BROADMEADOWS CHURCH ON THE MOONEE PONDS - On Sunday last, the 25th ult. this Church, the first stone of which, as mentioned in our number for February, was laid on the 15th day of January, was opened for Divine Service. The Lord Bishop of the Diocese preached a sermon on the occasion, and the little building was filled by an attentive audience.

The Church is 40 feet long and 25 in breadth, and is substantially built of rough stone in the early English style. The design was furnished gratuitously by Mr. Blackburn, who also kindly undertook the superintendence of the work. The cost, when it is completed, will be £438; and the estimated cost of a Parsonage, which it is intended to proceed with as soon as possible, is £310. Towards this amount, £350 have been granted by the government from the Church Fund; £100 have been contributed by the Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge; £50 by the Diocesan Society; and £340 4s. 6d. raised by voluntary subscriptions, including a donation of £125 from Mr. W. Foster, the brother of the late Member of Council.
